Most leaders know how to push harder, because we're constantly told to.
Far fewer have figured out how to recover well.
In this episode, I'm exploring one of the most overlooked leadership skills: recovery. Not just taking time off, but intentionally creating the mental, emotional and physical space that allows you to think clearly, lead effectively and sustain high performance over time.
We often celebrate busyness as a sign of commitment, yet elite athletes understand something many workplaces have forgotten: performance improves because of recovery. Recovery is a strength.
I unpack the difference between rest and recovery, why they're not the same thing, and how deliberate recovery helps improve decision-making, resilience, creativity, emotional regulation and long-term leadership effectiveness.
We also explore:
- Why burnout is easier to prevent than recover from.
- What elite athletes can teach us about leadership performance.
