For this practice you will either need a physical object, or an object in mind. This practice can be done by either imagining the object, holding the object, or looking at the object - however you need to practice it.

While our brain's were never designed to completely shut down and be quiet, sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the 'busyness' and attempts at multi-tasking - where multi-tasking has actually been found to be less productive, lead to lower quality outputs, and add more strain on mental processes.

So we create simplicity and practice focusing on an object as part of our meditation practice. This practice ensures that it remains a benign one for you - there is no pressure on the yourself or the item you choose, there's no story or 'need' attached.

Just breathing while noticing the details of one thing, and bringing your attention back to it as many times as you need.
