In this episode of Get Jasched, Jess speaks with Rhianna Jade – an astrologer and holistic psychotherapist with 10 years’ experience as a registered psychologist in Australia – about how astrology and psychology can work together to support our mental health, emotional wellbeing and leadership.
Rhianna has spent years helping people move through anxiety, burnout, grief, shame and identity loss. In this conversation, she and Jess dive into how high-achievers, entrepreneurs and caregivers often end up in imposter syndrome, over-giving and compassion fatigue, and how tools like astrology, nervous-system awareness and simple daily rituals can help us come back to ourselves.

They explore:
- How combining astrology and psychology gives us a more compassionate, objective language to understand ourselves
- Why imposter syndrome and constant comparison are so rampant for high achievers and business owners
- The difference between burnout and compassion fatigue – and what to look out for
- How to use the moon cycles and retrograde seasons to plan, reflect and reset (without outsourcing your power)
- Practical rituals and grounding practices to reduce anxiety, reconnect to your body and navigate year-end exhaustion
- Why our Sun, Moon and Rising signs each reveal different parts of who we are and what we need to feel nourished
- How reconnecting to your truth rebuilds confidence, trust, purpose and self-belief over time

Rhianna also shares why “just breathe” is not 'nothing' advice – and how something as simple as returning to the breath can shift your energy, soften your nervous system and help you respond instead of react.
If you’re feeling tired, done, over it, or crawling to the finish line, this episode is a permission slip to slow down, reflect, and remember you’re not broken – you might just be disconnected from what actually works for you.

Hey everyone, welcome to another episode of Get Jasched.Today I'm delighted to have with me Rhianna Jade. Rhianna is an astrologer and holistic psychotherapist with 10 years of experience as a regis- as a registered psychologist here in Australia, and has spent those years helping people move through anxiety, burnout, grief, shame and identity loss. And I thought at this time of year when everyone is probably feeling some kind of burnout, anxiety, stress, somethin', somethin', this would be a really- Hey, pick the year.Pick your poison, like this would be a really good, uh, time to, um, have her on and have this kind of conversation. So thank you so much for joining us.I'm so glad to have you here today.Thank you.Thank you for having me, and yeah, it took quite a bit for us to get here actually, with timezone- Right.Yeah.and all patience. And that's okay. We, it's probably perfect timing despite Mercury being in the microwave anyway, soYeah, yeah, so thank you.I'm really excited to be here.Mm.So your work, I was saying to you before we started recording, your work is really interesting because you work, at leastAnd I may have this wrong, but you s- you seem to work predominantly in the astrology side, but you also have this, this psychologist background which is really grounding and, you know, astrology is something that people turn to when they are looking to understand themselves better, and similarly, so is psychology. So how do you find that this blend of work helps people to kind of connect with themselves more?I love that the astrology gives us another language to work with, essentially. And sometimes we need that point of separation. It can be a lot to look at over ourselves in psychology, but if we say, "Look, why don't we look at your chart? And I can tell you a bit about how you process things emotionally or how you intellectually understand things or what some of-" Mm." the core wounds for you might be," and sometimes just having that point of separation allows us to look at something from a more objective lens, or from a little bit more of a detached lens so then we can actually lean in and embody a lot of the information that is on offer for us.So that's what I really love about it, and astrology has a strong sense of mythology as well, so it can really connect with people spiritually, religiously, intellectually, emotionally. There is just so many ways that we can connect and it's always been a lifelong dream of mine, because I've been interested in psychology and astrology since I was a kid.Mm.To me it was a no-brainer to merge them. It, it didn't make sense to keep them separate, to be honest, so- Yeah.that was what I wanted to do.That actually, itThe way you explain that makes perfect sense, because we know, like, forever and ever and even in some schooling curriculums, like they'll use Greek tragedies and the old Greek stories as the fables, as the, you knowAnd, and I'm not an expert.Like I, like, like, you know, in terms of like wha- are they explicitly, you know, documented and all of this, but these are s- these are things that regardless of anything else give us that point of, like you said, that separation from ourselves. So maybe it's a little less confronting to kind of find an archetype or a, or a messaging in something that helps us understand ourselves better as well.Yeah.And, and using this as a reflection. And I think that'sThat can be a really helpful lens for people to see it through.Yeah.As well in that way, especially when we're feeling stressed and we want, you know, like the solution and the thing that helps to, quote, fix us as well.Yeah.Yeah.And I think archetype is the perfect word, actually. That's definitelyBecause you can have the archetype of a planet, you can have the archetype of a sign, you can have- Yeah. There's, there's so many different ways to, to look at it, so yeah, I think that's the perfect way to explain it.Mm.That's really cool.So we, like I mentioned, um, and, and you talk about this a lot as well in what you share, but you do work a lot with people with anxiety and burnout and, as we said, grief and shame and identity loss and all of these big feelings.Mm-hmm.What patterns do you see right now most in, you know, people who are, quote, high achieving or, like, caregivers or have a lot on their shoulders or on their to-do list?So in terms of the high achievers imposter syndrome, is 100%- Mm.the pattern that I see.It, it seems to be something that none of us can get away from. And with the world that we live in, because we have so much access to comparison, it's actually getting worse, this imposter syndrome. So, and then that's creating a lot of our anxiety or our depression, so it's really highlighting that first, and then what I love about psychology and astrology is then we can understand and start to name our strengths and all the ways that we are amazing and all of the wonderful work-that we do.We can stay mindful and present with our bodies, with our own body of work, with our own- Mm.client, and then that can really help to alleviate a lot of the imposter syndrome that so many of us are feeling, which essentially is just about being disconnected, right? We're disconnected from ourselves.Truth, our gifts, and we're way too connected to the wrong things, such as social media. And you know, external validation. The doom scroll and the comparison scroll.Oh, my goodness.Yeah.Oh, my goodness. So that's definitely in the entrepreneurs, the high achievers.Uh, what was the other, the other one you said?Uh, the other example was, yeah, like people who are more caregiving humans, like not- Caregiver.not that they're necessarily separate, but like- Yeah.caregiver roles.Yeah, so that's burnout.Uh, and- Mm.not just, uh, 'cause there's 2 kind of forms of burnout. There's burnout and then there's compassion fatigue.Mm.And seeing those so much because we are constantly connected and giving and doing, and a lot of us, especially the high achievers too, tend to overgive as a distr- distraction from dealing with their own anxiety and things. So sometimes, and I say that with a smirk.Because I, I, you know, I'm not-new to that.Uh, so that's definitely what I see as well. And again, that's about mindfulness and coming back to the bodies and actually responding to what we need- Hm.in an appropriate way rather than continuing to react from that fight, flight or freeze response.Yeah.Yeah, that makes a lot of sense 'cause so often when we're in those modes, we- we're so in our heads- Mm.as well, and it's, and even if it is technically safe to sort of be in our bodies, it feels unsafe. It's like, "Oh, there's too much going on.There's too much to acknowledge. There's too much to feel. There's too much to do.I can'tI don't have time.I don't have time."I had that one. That's the big one.Mm.Yeah, and, and we get to this point in the year, and I am generalizing, but I know, like, through my own work, a lot of people do feel that at this point in the year. They're like, "Enough."Like, "I"Done."I'm done.I'm fucking done."Yeah, "Put a fork in me.I'm done.I, I cannot, like, take in more information," or, "I can't," you know, likeIt's like, "We're crawling to the finish line."Mm-hmm.Yeah.How, whatThis is such a broad question and I'm trying to think a way of, like, making a simpler answer for you, but like, yeah, like, what, what's a way that people can address that if that's where they're at, but also, you know, like, mitigate that throughout the year in terms of practices that help them be connected with themselves or using tools like, you know, astrology to help them be aware of when they might feel more impacted or more drained of their energy or more fulfilled in theirYou know, like, what is, what are ways that people can, can address that for themselves, whether it's as a preparation or they're already in it at this point? So astrology, 100%.It literally gives us- Mm.a map, and probably the easiest thing to work with is the moon.So we've got the new moon and the full moon every month, and they're a great release point, reflection point, and also a great intention setting point, so you can really narrow it down to, "How about I just focus on the next 4 weeks?"Ah, yeah. You know, or, or even focus on 6 months because we've just had the Scorpio new moon, uh, and in 6 months' time, we'll have the Scorpio full moon.So you can even narrow it down or broaden it out to 6 months. So, uh, astrology, I mean, it's my go-to all the time, and you can map out your year, your month, your week. There's so many ways to work with it.You can get a reading, you can start to notice what, how you feel in certain times of the month- Hmm.so that's a really great broad way, but I do understand that astrology can also feel really overwhelming, and it can be like, "Where the hell do I start?"Which is why, you know, start with the moon. That's a super easy one.Mm-hmm.I am huge on rituals, daily rituals, and just find what works for you.And for some people, that's, like, "I know I need to get outside and put my feet on the grass or go for a 10-minute walk."For me personally, I start my day with, uh, a visualization meditation, my own little thing that I do for my chakras- Hmm.just to really get into my body.I have a practice at the end of the day where I'm calling my energy back to me.So, it can be a little bit more spiritual and woo-woo, or it can be really practical and as simple as, "I know I need to get to the gym or go for a walk," or, "I know I need to call a friend."So, it's just finding those little grounding rituals that actually bring you back to you, and, and- Hmm.remember who you are and why you're here and get you back in your body and in the present moment. And it's in that way that we're then responding rather than reacting.Yeah.Oh my God, yes, you're speaking my language.I 'cause I can see how they connect, especiallyI mean, I, I could already see that, but you can see how the 2, um, disciplines connect, because we know that in psychology, routines is one of those key things that help people feel more stable and have more of a foundation, and going out and literally touching grass, or like, you know , being in nature, or moving your body in whatever way, whether it is the gym or a walk or whatever.Again, in psychology, it's so well-documented, but the way I see it is, yeah, astrology gives you almost like a conduit or a channel or a focus point.Yeah.If, if that feels good for you to go, "Oh, like, what if it's not just my body?"Like you said, "What if it's the chakra system, and I sort of feel into this aspect of myself?"And it's like- Mm-hmm.the parts of it, right? It's like, "Oh, parts of myself. What if I feel into my sense of self or how I love and receive love or how I express myself?"You know, any of those things are all, I don't wanna say just parts of ourselves, but they are all- Yeah.parts of ourselves and, and it works as that conduit, and sometimes that helps give our mind that focus point too, rather than just- Yeah."Oh, what?I have to just sit down and"Yeah.and- "Do I breathe?Do I write?Do I-" Yeah, "And what do I do?And my mind's busy, and-" Yeah." am I doing it wrong because my mind's busy?"It's like, no, no, that's just humaningExactly. And then this is where, like you said, astrology, there's a planet for each day of the week.So Friday- Mm-hmm.is Venus. So it's like, "Okay, I'm gonna do self-care today, 'cause Venus is all about beauty and love and values."Where, you know, Monday is the moon, and it's like, "Okay, I might be a bit more emotional today.I'm going to be really gentle with myself and cook a- Mm-hmm.meal."And so it can literally be as simple as that. It's like, "What planet is it today? And I'll align to something that-" Yeah.planet."Hmm.Yeah.That's, that, that helps gives us a bit of structure, especially when we don't know where to start too.Mm-hmm.And, and again, like, especially if, ifit can happen at any time of year, so even if anyone's listening or watching this, um, you know, in the middle of the year or the beginning of the year.It doesn't have to be in, in, you know- Mm-hmm.at the end of the year where it, where, when we're recording it.But it can give us that, that structure that helps us go, like, feelLike, when we're feeling overwhelmed, like you said, we don't know where to start- Mm-hmm.and, and we feel all heady, so it's like, "All right, well, what if we start with the simplest thing?"Something that just helps gives us a little bit of guidance, a little bit of those, like, the, the bumper rails almost- Yeah.so that we can get moving along.Yeah.Yeah.And when all else fails, take a deep breath.Please.Yeah.Just breatheFirst and foremost- YeahbreatheThe simplest one, the one we forget most of the time, is just breatheHonestly, I watch it with my clients, um, in psychology, I'm like, "Breathe," like, they're holding their breath, and they don't even realize- Yeah.and it's like, "Okay, take a breath."And they rush it.It's like, "Just take your time.Actually, just stop and take some breaths."And you literally see their energy change and their shoulders drop and them kind of melt and like, "Oh, okay, wow, I'm here."Yeah.Yeah.And it, ugh.I know that feeling.I'm like, "Oh yeah, that's such a good feeling."Yeah.So, what do you find, like, when you're working with people in, in this, this blend as well, what do you find shifts when someone starts making decisions f- from that place of feeling into their truth instead of maybe the fear or the obligation or the overwhelm or the, the whatever, the heightened feelings?Mm-hmm.The 2 things I see is, 1, confidence comes back because- Hmm.we're, we're responding based on internal cues, and our own intuition, and our own instinct. And then everything's starting to align, and it's like, "Oh, my goodness."And we start to trust.I see a spark come back. It's like, oh, everything gets to be easy again.A lot of the resistance fades away.People often come to psychology sessions, and even the astrology sessions, quite locked up and resistant. It's like frozen. It's like, "I just don't know what to do," and there's so much fear. And when you start to break that down, and you start to tune back into the cues of your body and those little nudges, and then you go and do that little thing and it works out, it's, yeah, the confidence that returns and the spark- Mm-hmm.that returns is epic, and I love watching it.I love seeing the clients come back, and it's like, "Oh, there you are, there you are, there you are, there you are."It's like just- Yeah.more and more of themselves every session.Yeah.And do you find that they, and it's sort of you speaking for their experience, but do you find that they have more confidence in all areas of their life and, like, and, and that carries through, like whether it's to do with their work and how they maybe lead or, or whatever their work is or- Mm-hmm.how they are at home and just that overall holistic wellbeing- Mm-hmm.Yeah.and quality of life experience? It absolutely filters out everywhere. And, uh, maybe confidence isn't always the right word too.Mm-hmm.Sometimes it's just that belief, that hope. It's like, "Oh, I can, I can see that it's all okay."Or trust might be the word. You know, a lot of us- Hmm.come to therapy sessions feeling quite jaded, you know, and quite like, "You know what? It, it works for everyone else, but it's never gonna work for me."And when you see- Yeah.that shift and you see them start to believe again and dream again a- and start to find movement in areas of their life again, it's just, it's the- Yeah. And do you see a difference, uh, in how that sense of, maybe it's purpose as well, like that sense of connection and purpose can show up not just'Cause s- most, a lot of the time, and I'm guilty of this too, like so, you know. But like a lot of the time, it's like we want the big, the big change, the big thing, the big signal, the big whatever to be the thing, but often it's like in the small- Mm-hmm.daily, consistent steps and everything. How do you, how do you find that, that, that relationship that people have with what those things are shows up for people and, and how that might shift over time the more that they get to sort of connect with themselves? This is where, what I love about retrograde seasons, right?Hmm.I'll often have this conversation with clients where they're automatic, like they're already running for the next thing once they're feeling good. And so- Yeah.I'm very big on arriving.I'm like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Why don't we just take a minute-to actually land and, and see where you are now?And we'll have this little reflection session where I'm like, "I want you to think about 12 months ago, or 6 months ago, you know, when you first came here and look- Yeah.at where you are now."Because so quickly, we can go back into that imposter syndrome or comparison. It's like, "Yeah, but it's not enough, it's not enough, it's not enough."I'm like, "But think of how you would have handled, you know, that conversation or that opportunity 3 months ago or 6 months ago."So it's so important that we arrive, and that we land, and that we think about, well, what cultivated this, what helped me get here, and to make sure that we're continuing to cultivate those things. And this is where the rituals and everything come in.It's like, you know- Yeah.we don't wanna get complacent now.We, if we know something works, we keep doing it, right?Yeah.Yeah, I, and this, like, this is my favorite time of year.I- I've said this several times, and even, like, in posts where I, it's like, this is my most creative time of year personally, but also professionally in the sense of, you know, the new year. And I don't do resolutions, but I do intentions. But even when I'm working with clients in like a, like a one-on-one day together and, you know, we're looking forward and, and what they wanna do, but also how they feel about that, but then also it always includes the reflection- Yes, it does.of, what went well over the last X period of time? And in this case, it's like, over the last year, what went well?Yeah.Like, let's actually stop for a second, 'cause again, I'm guilty as hell of this 'cause I love having a goal.Like, I genuinely relish in, like, having something to work towards and be like, "Oh my God, this is exciting."And like, you know, like, I like- Yeah.having that drive and s- like, an ambitious thing to do.But the, the, the risk there is exactly as you said. It's like, I can risk creating that self-perpetuating kind of, I'm never gonna get there, because I am getting there, but because there's always something else.Like, I nev- you know, I risk not pausing to actually check in.So that reflection of, A, what went well? What did I actually achieve?Like, what are the things that I actually did and, or, and felt, and brought myself to, you know?So whether that's going through the calendar or going through my camera roll sometimes, and just reminding ofLike, that's why I love, like, the end of year posts, that kind of like wrap up visually 'cause it's, it's a therapy session for myself in the sense of, "Oh, I did all of this, and navigated all of this," and you know- 'Cause we forget, right? We forget, especially when we're stressed or just busy.Yeah.Yeah, we forget, and it's such a key part of looking forward, but like, looking forward and moving forward from a place that's connected to ourselves, because otherwise, to me, it is disconnected. If we're trying to move forward towards something without actually connecting with the version of oursel- of, of us who we are now, which is now, but also all of the things that have gotten us to here.Mm-hmm.It's like, otherwise it's just disconnecting.Yeah.And, and it'sWe're not getting the wisdom from it, you know? It's like- Mm-hmm.when you see it and you're like, and you connect all those dots and you realize how much experience you've gained, then you bring the wisdom into the next piece- Mm-hmm.even before the next goal is, rather than just going through the motions. It's like, well, here's what I learnt, here's what worked, here's what doesn't work, here's how I know I can do it more quickly. Not to rush, but it's just like- Yeah.I can actually catch things now and do things with true embodied experience.Yeah, and it is that embodied experience of I, and I think this is also what helps me overcome moments of imposter syndrome.Mm.Mm-hmm.Because if, if I'm just caught up in it, then I'm gonna feel it or I'm gonna think it, but if I actually sit back and remind myself of some of the things I've achieved, that, especially that are related to the thing I might feel imposter syndrome about, it's like, well, duh, of course I'm capable of this.Like, I've done the, like, X, Y, Z, and I'm done blah, blah, blah, and I've navigated all of this.Like, of course I have the capacity or the capability or the skills, or all 3, to do this now, likeYeah.Absolutely.It's connected.Yeah.It's- Yeah. But when we're not connected in that way, like you say, Rach, we put it down to chance or fluke, or you know, "That was just lucky.I, I don't know how I did that."Yeah.But it's like, of course I know how I did that.Look at everything I just did.Yeah.Yeah, look at all itYeah, exactly, 'cause that's my least favorite thing, is, is, um, being told.Usually it's not me saying it, but like, being told, like, "Oh, you're so lucky," if I get an opportunity or something, and I'm like, oh, I know that this is well meaning, butBut actuallyActually, I, I fucking worked my ass off for this.So like, you know?exactly what you mean.Like, I, I am fortunate, but not lucky out of nowhere. You know, like, I may be in the energy of, but me doing the work to put myself in this position to be ready to receive that opportunity or that thing or that whatever, I played my role in that luck.Like, yeah. You did.I did the work. This is fine, guys, and it's okay to acknowledge, and I know, I think that's, I think that's so important to sort of have the balance of, I think about, like, high-achieving people in particular, to have the balance of acknowledgment, of, oh, yes, we get to be fortunate.Some- like, you know, maybe that's fortunate in privilege, maybe that's fortunate in certain ways, and most of the time, we have played a role, we've played a significant role.Mm-hmm.And it is the balance too, because like, you know, with p- if people just worked hard also, then a lot more people would be a lot wealthier in many ways than what they are, so you know, it, it's, it's such a balance of, of that, the both end of, of our whole experience and our whole connection with ourself, and not blaming ourselves entirely either. And you've just explained beautifully, you know, I, I talk about this in astrology as well. It's like, yes, we have our birth chart and we have these- Mm-hmm.opportunities, but just because they're there in the chart doesn't mean we'll do anything with them.We still have to put in our 50%.We still have to put in 100% in our effort. So yes, there could be a lucky planet doing something, there could be an unlucky planet doing something, but whether or not we do anything with it, we always- Mm-hmm.have free will. So, there is always that balance that, that, there is always that mixture of, what are we putting into it to give opportunities, get opportunities, to work with the universe, to work with life, whatever terminology you want to use.Yeah.And even like you said, success does, it doesn't happen from nothing. It requires hard work, but it gets to be fun, and we get- Yeah.to mix it out with all the other things as well.So I think you just really beautifully summed up not just life in general, but another way of summing up astrology and, and- Mm.well.Yeah, thank you.I think, 'cause this is sort of another question I have for you too, because I know, I don't know if, yeah, if, if, you experience this in your field as much anyway, but I know there are people who are skeptical of astrology, and they're very, you know, like, very certain brained and, and that's okay, but it might be the people that sort of criticize and, and say things like, "Oh, well, like everyone brai- blames everything on Mercury being in retrograde," for example, and take no responsibility and- Yeah.and I'm, I'm sure that that can be the case for some people, but that's not my relationship with it, and I know it's not your relationship with it either.Just knowing what I know about you.But how do youI mean, maybe it's just exactly how you just explained it, but how do you, um, how do you kind of educate or communicate that with people about how it's, it's energy that can inform, but it's not- Mm-hmm.it's not, you know, it'sWe still have that choice, we still have that free will, and it's how we show up as well?Yeah. So it's just about finding the language.Well, firstly, I'm never going to try and convert someone. If you believe in it, they don't believe in it.But I always just say, you know, it's just this language, and it's not really any different to metaphysics. You know?Mm-hmm.Or a branch of science over here. It's just finding the language, and like religion, like science, like anything, we are all saying the exact same thing. We've just found a different language to say it in- Yeah.essentially.Yeah.So some people resonate, resonate with the language of astrology, some people resonate with the language of science, and I know the scientists out there are gonna be like, "Astrology is not science."But there are things in metaphysics and physics where, I'm sorry, but it's energy, and we are talking about the same thing.And- Well, yeah.Atoms, atoms are energy.Right?LikeIt's the same thing. And just toThis is not, you know, a whim that I'm like, "Ooh, astrology's cool, I'm gonna talk about it."This is literally a lifelong, I've been gobbling up books and information on this since I was 9 years old.It's- Mm-hmm.And I just see it.And yes, some people could argue, "But you're looking for it, so you're going to see those patterns."But I am inherently skeptical in a lot of ways, and I try to avoid the patterns 'cause I'll be like, "Uh-oh.""I don't want Pluto crossing with my damnNo, no, no.That's not a thing. That's not a thing."And then- Yeah.lo and behold, you look back, and you're like, "Yeah, it's fucking a thing. It's definitely"Mm-hmm.So, I can't escape it even when I try to avoid looking at the astrology, even when I go back 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, and I look at what was going on, it is just confirmed again and again and again and again and again, the way these planets work, the way they interact with us, the way we're impacted by them. So, for me, it's not, it's not woo-woo, it's not this- Mm-hmm.la-la magical stuff.I literally see it confirmed through years and years and years of reflection and research. So to me, it, it is real.It is 100% real.Yeah, of course. And of course, like, and you, and you've approached it from this perspective of, like you said, it's not just'Cause I'm the same.I don't like getting on, on board with trends. And I don't know if it's like a, "Don't tell me what to do," part of me, or, like, whatever it is, it's like, "Oh, no," like, I don't wanna buy it.Like, I'm not gonna get on the bandwagon there. But, when you do pause and then use reflection and retrospection- Yeah.you kind of get to see like, okay, there's a pattern there.Like, you know? There's absolutely a pattern. And we can, we, we can seeAnd, and, yeah, and I think that's, that's good because like if it's something that, like, is, like, yeah, no one's forced into anything here, but like if, if it's something that resonates with you, it just gets to be another conduit to understanding how you can then respond and navigate things, like the simplest one for me is Mercury retrograde, like- Yeah.I'm a Gemini sun, so like ruling planet is Mercury. So it's fun. And, but it's like, oh, I just know to sort of, if I'm prepared before or at least while it's just entered shadow, like the pre-shadow- Mm-hmm.then if I sort of get things done that Ilike, you know, start preparing things in advance of that, then my life just runs smoother. And even if you don't believe in it- Hmm.my life still runs smoother.Like, you know, so it's like whyYeah, it's just, it's just a conduit to helping like, oh, it helps me be a bit, bit more organized with some things. And then that equals smoothness.Yeah.Amazing.Tick.Yeah.It's so good.So for people who do, or who are interested in like, you know, s- their, their star signs and everything like that, so there's sun rising and moon signs. And I know not everyone is sort of across rising and moon.Usually, people just go with the sun sign.Mm-hmm.Um, m- personally, recently, in the last few months, I have started prioritizing more of my rising sign when it comes to, like, reading, you know, like, insights or, you know, like horoscopes or whatever it is.I read for my rising sign, not for my sun. That's way moreYeah. And like I've forever gone from my sun sign because there's a lot of, um, there's a lot of familiarity there as well. But yeah, once, once I switched to sort of prioritizing the rising sign, I have felt so much more grounded in understanding- Mm-hmm.um, how I operate and it's felt so much more resonant. So like, how would you explain, umI don't know if the purpose is the right word, but I can't think of a better one.So like the purpose of sun rising or moon for each of us, because I know that they sort of all connect to s- a different aspect of us, perhaps, is the right way to explain it, so.Yeah.No, absolutely it is.Yeah.So the sun is our core identity, it's our truest sense of self. But more often than not, it's that part of ourselves that only our closest people see, you know, the people- Mm-hmm.that we really trust to see all the ins and outs of us.Whereas our rising sign, we describe it as the mask that we wear.So this is the energy that's presented to the world, which is why, you know, I said to you, I'm like, "But I get water from you and you're amazing."Yeah.You know, so people get that beautiful, feminine, you know, that empathy, that intuition, and then the people who really know you are like, "Oh my God, you have so much knowledge and information," and you know, they get that real Gemini energy of you.And you're so fun and all these things, but you can be really- Yeah.****** and sensitive for your clients with that Pisces rising. Our moon is our emotions and it's what nurtures and nourishes us.So you're a Capricorn moon, right? So you're very grounding for other people, but to, to nurture and nourish yourself, you do need to get out in nature, and you do need practicality, and you do need lists and plans and goals, you know? That's actually what nurtures and nourishes you.So this is how the planets, they just, they, they're nuanced and they impact us in different ways. But in terms of what you were talking about in, uh, in reading, if we're just talking about horoscopes, so you're reading- Mm-hmm.on the internet or in magazines, uh, the rising sign is actually the most important. And this is probably where I might lose a few people.Based on the birth chart, and in the birth chart there are these things called houses, and there are 12 of them, and they relate to a different area of life or topics and themes in life. And your rising sign is actually the first house. And when we do horoscopes, we're basing it on houses. So we're actually basing it from that first house and able to say, "Okay, because your Pisces rising, it's actually your 7th house that is impacted at the moment."So if you were actually doing that from your sun, it would be the wrong area of life.So you'd still resonate with a lot of the things that they're saying, but it'd be like, "But actually, it's not my relationships."You know?Hmm."It's work that I'm feeling things in."So this is where it's way more accurate to actually read your rising sign so that you're getting the right topics and themes and areas of life that are impacted from month to month with the horoscopes.Mm.That's a great explanation because itlike even describing the difference in, in the versions of self between the 3, as you were saying, and I know you were sort of specifically saying mine, so of course it resonated- Yeah.but like as you were saying, I'm like, that makes sense because like people describe me as predominantly like the soft and like, you know, the, the nurturing, the caring and all that.I'm like, well, yes, yes, but there's, you know, like there's also the very like, um, information and, and like- Yeah.you know, the twin energy- Like me, so true.of ooh, there's you know, like, let's do this. But it's not mylike- Yeah.Yeah, that all m-And then how I nurture myself is, is spot on.Yeah.It's like, oh, I nurture myself with an element of organization and nature and like, and that's just me, so that is me uniquely. But just being aware of our relationship with ourselves and with others and, and how, how we present to ourselves, but also to others, and I think- Yeah.that is such a helpful lens.If it is an interest for people, that is such a helpful lens to go, oh, I actually understand myself a lot better. So even through that, I understandI mean, I already, I already do this work, so like I know, but like I, I would understand myself so much more and go, oh yeah, of course, like nature, maybe nature's something that's gonna be really good for me.Or having an element of organization or order reduces my stress and overwhelm.Like it becomes a very practical like- Yeah.um, guide in terms of, oh, what if I do try this? And oh, what if I make sure I go and touch grass or sit under a tree?Hmm.All things I like.Like, I'll go on a hike and be like, "I'll pick a favorite tree," or, from the hi-You're my favorite, you know ?Like, so it's like, what if I use these things to help support me?Yeah. Not becau- not from the perspective of something that's been, quote, made up.Not that we're needing to justify that anyway, but from this perspective of, what do I need? How can I connect with myself?Bring it, bring it in, and how can I connect with myself and, and honor that, and maybe that will actually help me, I don't know, navigate this time of year ?Thrive, help us thrive. And it, you know, it's that permission piece, too.Often when I explain it in this way, 'cause people will be like, "What's wrong with me?"You know, "My partner goes and meditates and they feel amazing."And they might have, um, an air moon that actually needs- Mm-hmm.time to ground into the body. And I might be talking to someone with a fire moon and I'll be like, "But that's not you.You need to go and take action. You're nurtured and nourished by going for a run."Yeah.You know, or going to the gym.And it's like that piece where like, "Oh, thank God, I'm not broken.Like, that is what works for me."Yes."I'm going to go do that."And to just know and understand that about yourself and then to not have shame about what works for you and what doesn't work for you- Mm-hmm.and then we can have compassion for the people around us to know that, oh, this is what works for them, so I'm gonna go let them do that, because I know that's what nurtures and nourishes them, and then we can go and do something together.Yeah.And that's such like a, uh, that's such a key, like, that feels so important to me, professionally and personally, like, just the reminder that we all need different things.Mm-hmm.And we allIt's so important to, like, we can try things on and, like, you know, and, and explore, but it's so important to remember that it's okay if we don't fit in exactly with someone else's perception of what they need.I always, I, I, you know, like, I go through different rants, I guess, uh, over the years of like what feels like as an important reminder depending on what's coming up in the zeitgeist, but it's like, I remember going through, like, maybe one of the first, since starting my business almost 10 years ago, like, one of the first ones I had was about diets.Hm.'Cause I hate diet culture anyway. But, it was just this, I'm like, I feel so adamant, I felt so adamant then, and now, now we know and it's become more of, like, that mainstream awareness of different diets are gonna work differently for different people. Not every diet suits everyone.Like, and I think this is also because I was, I started my business as a yoga teacher, so there was a lot about vegetarianism and veganism, and I'm not against that personally, but I also know- Mm-hmm.from, like, experience, but also know that, like, that is not for me.Hm.Because my body responds diff-You know, like, but it was just this, like, we can't all fit into that, and it just doesn't, like, you know, it's gonna be really good for some people and it's not gonna be as great for others, and if we try to pe- put people in a box, and that's just an example, but likeIt's a great example though.Yeah.It's all of these things. And now, like, you know, a lot of my work is in the mindfulness and the leadership and the communication and, and well-being science and how do we all, how do we navigate that? And, and it's just gonna be different- Yeah.for each person, like you said.Like, meditation practice can look different.Like, someone might, like surfing is a meditation.Exactly, yeah.Versus I need to sit and, like, be s- Just breathe, be still.Just, just turn off the stimulation , you know?Like, it's just, yeah, it's such an important thing to remember, and I think that leads us into so much more self-acceptance, but then also allowing ourselves to receive what it is that we need- Yeah.more often when we're not putting that kind of pressure on ourselves.Yeah, exactly, yeah. And so, really, it all boils down to this, like, mindfulness, right? Is, we've gotta be mindful of does thisAnd the reflection piece.Does this work for me?Mm-hmm.Does this ƒwork for me?And to not even box ourselves into, "This is what works for me always and forever."And if we use this, you know, veganism, vegetarian part, I've had clients who they're so, their values are soUh, you know, "I wanna be vegan," or, "I, I wanna be vegetarian," but then their body was literally crying out for meat, and they've had to go against that to- Mm-hmm.get the nutrients and the nourishment because there was absolute health things going on for them. And l- applying that compassion to be like, "This season right now is what you need, and then you can go back to-" Yeah." how you wanna live your life."So we don't even need to box ourselves in to be like, "I need mountain hikes for the rest of my life."You might be in a season of needing m- mountain hikes, and next season, you might be like, "I need ocean swims," and that's okay as well. You know?Again, I, you are speaking directly to me.I'm like, "Yeah, no, it's a mountain kind of day or a mountain kind of time," and other times, I'm like, "No, it is just- Hmm.ocean.Like, not lake-freshwater, saltwater.Let's go.And so you're clearly so in tune- Mm.and the work that you do, and this is why to me, I just, I, I don't understand not going through life with these things that help us connect- Yeah.not only to ourselves, but to the world, to Earth, to other people, because life is just so much easier. You know?Yeah. Why go through it blind?Exactly, exactly.Oh, oh, I could go on forever and ever about this. But, um, what isBefore we get you to share how people can connect with you and follow you and, and all of that stuff, what is one thing that you feel like generally might be a good reminder for people at this time of year? In, at the end of the year or in advance of the new year?Hmm.Breathe.I always say- Hmm, come back to it.Yeah, take a breath.I can feel, even as you were asking that question was funny.I could feel in my body there's a lot of grief-uh, in the air this year. It's a numerology 9 year. It's a year of endings. We are going into this beautiful one year, but there's a lot that we're wrapping up on so many levels. There's been a l- just a lot.I, I won't even go into the negativity of it.So I think compassion is really needed at this time of year.Go at your own pace.I think that counterbalance, that both end that you were speaking of, I think this year in particular, we really need to be bringing back in the fun, the connection, get off that wheel of I've got to do more and be more and actually just utilize this retrograde season that we're in, because it's not just Mercury retrograde. We've literally got Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, uh, Uranus- Ah.Chiron.They're all in retrograde right now.So this is your permission slip.Just take a breather, take a breath, actually tune in.Mm-hmm.What do I need in this moment? What can I give myself today to nurture and nourish myself? And you can, you know, get back on the wheel on Monday or tomorrow. But whoever's listening right now, take this as your permission piece to just take a breath, tune in- Mm-hmm.and respond with what your body is actually craving in this moment. And if you can get into the habit of doing that every day, every week, every month, I promise you, life becomes so much more pleasurable and so much easier.Oh my god.As, even as you were saying that, I was like, my body responded. It was like "Yeah."Take that breath.Like, just pause for a second and just slow down and breathe. And oh, it's so good.So- Mm-hmm.how can people, where can people find you?How can they connect with you if they want to work with you or explore any of your services or just follow you and everything that you share anyway?Where can they find you?The best way, honestly, is through my mailing list because I find social media so overwhelming. So I am on Instagram- Mm-hmm.and that's where I share all of my magic and all of my work.So if you, uh, are on Instagram, you can definitely find me there. But I tend to dip in and out of Instagram, whereas I'm absolutely committed to my mailing list.So you get a beautiful email every week letting you know what's going on, why you're feeling what you're feeling, how to work with it, the best way to harness it.Uh, so that would be my hot tip to get on that mailing list, and you can find that through my Instagram or through my website, rihannajade.com, where you can learn all about me and find all the different ways that you can work with me.Uh, but yeah, that mailing list is just that little love note in your inbox every week that I love to share.Amazing.I'll include the links also in the show notes so that way it's easier for people to access, but, oh, thank you so much for joining, for your time, for sharing, for your energy. It's so appreciated. We made it.We got here.I knew we would.Yeah.I wasn't worried.I knew we would too.Yeah.You're always at the back of my mind, okay?Always there.Yeah, so thank you so much.I so appreciate it, and I think it's just, yeah, it's such a nice perspective and reminder for us at any time, but yeah, particularly at the end of what has been quite a year for a lot of people.So- Putting it mildly.Well done.Yes.Thank you. There are many ways that I could put it and have put it.So look at her go.I'm so proud of me.Thank you so much.I really, I r- it's been such a delight.Thank you, my love.Mwah.
